Ivana does a study in a field that she is very familiar with just like Ralph. Their positions allow them to see the reasons behind the activities of the individuals they are studying. Their positions give the reader valuable insight but I wonder how much it blinds them. I feel that it limits the questions they ask because they ‘understand’ what the person is going through. Despite how their positions could limit their research, Ivana’s interpretations due to her positions are very detailed and easy for the reader to understand. Ralph has similar interpretations based on his positions but they are not as easy for the reader to follow.
How does the language become a barrier in Ivana’s research? Some of the individuals are immigrants like her so does their understanding of English impact the research?
